Would I get work in New York as a dietitian ?
I'm only going into grade 11 buT my plans are to finish my schooling and then move right to New York. I need to know what courSes and everything to be taking in highschool soo.. Do you think I would find work easily being a dietitian in New York ? .. If not, what are some other careers/jobs I could aim for ? Thanks for your help ! New York City - 3 Answers

You do not have to ask TWICE, you know . . . My SIL is an RD MS CDE - and was laid off *last* June, and cannot find work. Nursing or physical therapy - or even radiology tech - are hiring more, and paying better. NEVER EVER think of moving to NY unless you already have a good job. Wherever you are - stay there - unless it is even MORE expensive than living here. Why do WE live here? We are retired, draw nice pensions (and will get SS soon!), have really good investments, and are 100 percent debt-free - unless we CHOOSE do spend on ourselves - which we do, because we enjoy life. We worked really hard to get to this point - and are fine. I feel really bad for this next generation - my kids are in their thirties, and although employed in good jobs, it is harder and harder for them to think about a secure future - and THEY will never see pensions and SS like we do. This country is shooting the middle class.

By "finish my schooling", you mean earning at least a Bachelor's degree? To be a dietician [note spelling], you have to complete a college course and be registered by the state. Then, you could work in a hospital or other facility. Whether any jobs would be available, anywhere, is something you'd have to do some research on. Also, you may not be able to afford to live in NYC on a salary as a dietician - something else you'd need to look into. In any case, you'd want to have a lot of money saved before you make your move and, ideally, have a job all lined up before you go. Where your job is would determine where you'd want to live.
